Gardening tips for April
April is a great time to make a start in the garden if you have not yet done so. Bulbs are flowering now and many trees and shrubs are sprouting their beautiful spring blooms.
Gardening tips for Beginners
Frosts can still be a hazard so keep vulnerable plants protected at night if frost is forecast. Now is the time for a thorough spring clean; weed and dig over your borders incorporating as much organic matter as you can.
If the weather permits and the lawn is not wet, take this opportunity to give it a first cut. Make sure the blade is set to the highest settings.
If you are planning a new lawn start preparing the ground for seeding or laying turf. Clean patios and paths to remove algae. Many vegetable crops can be sown from seeds this month – follow the instructions on the packet and get planting.
Thinking of planting fruits? Now is the time to plant your strawberries. Ask at your DIY stores and nurseries for planting tips and ideas.
